Taking 1960

I was happy to review this book for the author. Rosa did a wonderful interview with me about my art over the summer that can be found here.

Taking 1960
Rosa Sophia, copyright 2010, 324 pages

I really enjoyed this book. Not only did it have several elements that appealed to me (I love a good murder mystery), it kept me guessing all the way through the book. I hesitate to go into too much detail because I don’t want to give anything away. The book has a haunting quality that sticks with you after you’ve finished the last page.

I found it easy to identify with the characters and immerse myself in their lives. The writing is easy to read and the logic of the story is complete. There were no surprises that left me wondering how the author jumped to that conclusion… everything made sense by the end.

This book literally took me for a ride. When I think of going back in time, I usually envision a period far back in time, or at least early in the last century. This book takes you back to 1960. Not the stereotypical 1960, but a very realistic 1960 that easily leads you along the story.

If you’re looking for something slightly paranormal (dreams, time travel), Taking 1960 is a great read that you should enjoy. This is a book I would recommend highly. Look for more from author Rosa Sophia… she has entered the literary world with a splash.
